These Melissa and Doug puzzles are gorgeous. My 4 year old daughter LOVES puzzles and she adores this set. She received it today and she finished it rather quickly, where her 5 year old sister had a harder time. This is a nice challenging set for kiddies that are no longer challenged by the 24 piece puzzles but can’t move onto harder ones.

I just bought this for my 15 month old. This is our 3rd Melissa and Doug puzzle. All are great quality. This puzzle has the same exact letter printed on the board beneath the puzzle piece, so it is good for younger children to learn where to put the pieces. The varying color combinations also make it easier for them to match the letter to the correct spot. I love this puzzle and so does my son. I got this for my 2 year old daughter for Christmas and she loves it. Its chunky pieces make it easy for her to hold and the vibrant colors are easy for her to match the letters. She doesn’t know the alphabets yet but she sings the song anyway whenever she does this puzzle. It’a a ver nice pretty 1st stage puzzle. The only thing I wish it came with was a cover to put on it so we can put it away without fearing losing any pieces.

we got these after our son mastered the 12 and 24 piece puzzles and was soon bored with them. after showing him how to put these together a couple of times he mastered these. he was only a little over 2 at the time. at 2 1/2 he still enjoys to take these out and put them together, usually faster than mom and dad can. so, even though the recommended age for these is 3 and up i think you can start earlier.

This was purchased for my four year old Grandson who came to visit me. I think that I had as much fun with it as he did. The toy combines many learning experiences with fun. Some of which are: Hand eye coordination, learning names of insects, identifying colors, placing shapes and many others. This is a simple fun toy for a toddler
Customer Review: Another great Melissa and Doug toy!
My 2 year old son loves Melissa and Doug toys and this one is no exception. He loves to use the butterfly net to pick up the bugs and tell us what they are. I think it helps his fine motor skills - manipulating the magnet to pick up the pieces. Game is very durable, as all the Melissa and Doug items are, and will no doubt be saved for my grandchildren to play with.

Customer Review: Not Like The Old Melissa and Doug Chunky Puzzles
We have several Melissa and Doug chunky puzzles that my son loves, so we ordered this one to add to the collection. Sadly, this particular puzzle (and the dinosaur one) are not the same quality as other puzzles in the series. The older chunky puzzles have an image painted on each piece. Even the back and sides of each piece are painted in primary colors. The newer chunky puzzles are pressed wood cut outs with raw (and somewhat rough) edges and backsides with decals stuck on the front. My son is still teething and sticks everything in his mouth. Within five minutes of opening this puzzle the decals are already coming off. For a product that is supposedly hand made, it is shoddy. Be warned, this is not like the older version of this puzzle!

We have had this toy for more than a year and still looks very good (just a few scratches). I bought it when my daughter was 8 months old. She learned to name the animals very quickly and loved to play with it even though she couldn’t put the pieces back.
